In Taipei! When it comes to fun in Taipei is it just shopping?? Nope!
so..where should we head for fun? Here's a list of places you could and should visit.
买东西, 吃东西, 买东西, 吃东西 哪里玩啦?!
1. 碧潭 (Green Lake)
How to get there:
Take the Green Line 3 to Xindian (新店), the southern terminal station. After exiting, turn left and up the stairs across the road to access the riverfront.

Activities to do:
Sight Seeing, Swan Boat paddling
The day doesn't ends in 碧潭 Green Lake. From Xindian take a bus to Wu Lai 烏來 for HOTSPRING!!! Best way to end your day wasn't it?
How to get there:
After arriving at Xindian Station (southern terminus of the Green Line 3, 新店) exit the station and turn right towards Bus Stop B located along Beiyi Road (北宜路一段). Board bus route 849 bound for Wulai. Fare is NT15, and may be paid using either cash or Easycard (which provides a discount when transferring from the MRT).
I believe just one day of hot spring is never enough. Another place you could head to is BeiTou 北投
3. 北投 (Beitou)
How to get there:
Take the MRT Red Line 2 to Beitou Station (北投), then change to the train bound for Xinbeitou (新北投). Upon exiting the station, walk straight on either side of the park to find hot springs.
The famous place for hotsprings in taipei. Beitou is now filled with hotsprings resorts & hotels.
There are quite an options for you to choose, Just walk into any resort and check with their counter.
Options open to privates or public, mixed gender or separated genders.

**Tips: Get in naked or get in with clothes you wanna dispose after the bath. It's several wash to get rid of the sulfur smell.
How to get there:
Take the Red Line 2 象山 (Xiangshan station)
Taipei 101 is world's tallest tower in 2004. From my dad, this tower was specially designed to withstand earth quakes and typhoon. And they have different colored light displayed in each day at the evening hour to indicate what day it is on the day. How cool is that?
I always lost track of my time though.
Light Display by day: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, purpleFor the price wise getting up to the top, it's slight pricey so make sure the weather is clear on the day. Else you can't pretty see much and it'll be a waste.
Entrance: NT500 (adult), NT450 (student)
5. 象山 (Elephant Mountain)
How to get there: At Xiangshan station (象山), the terminus of Red Line 2, leave from Exit 2 and continue walking alongside the edge of the park. At the end of this road, take a left and follow until the entrance for Xiangshan Hiking Trail (象山登山步道).

6. 信義區 (Xinyi District)
It's all in Xinyi District. From shopping to movie, to dinner.After dinner? CLUB! It's all here. You might even spot some local fleas or performance right infont of Vieshow.
Shops: Taipei 101, Neo19, Vieshow cinema complex, Eslite bookstore, many more...

Catch their local movie, or some Rated shows that can't be screen in Singapore. And they even made cards for their movie posters. I collected some home. This is wayyyy too awesome!!!
7. 九份 (Jiu Fen)

How to get there:
From Taipei, take the train north to 瑞芳Ruifang Station. After exiting the station, cross the street to the bus stop next to the Wellcome Supermarket and board the Keelung Transit bus towards Jiufen. The bus trip takes roughly 15 minutes, and the fare is NT$21 during the week, NT$15 during weekends/holiday.

8. 平溪(Pingxi) & 十分(ShiFen)
How to get there:
From Taipei Main Station, take a northbound train (except Keelung-bound trains) towards Ruifang Station. Transfer to the Pingxi Line (平溪線) and purchase a One Day Ticket for the Pingxi Line, NT$52.
Activities to do: Sky Lantern 天燈
9. 基隆 (KeeLung)
How to get there: Go to Taipei Main Station and take a Local Train (區間車) on Taiwan Railways to Keelung Station. The price of the ticket will be NT$41, and generally leave every 15-20 minutes all day.

Miaokou Night Market 廟口夜市 one of the few night markets to get traditional foods
10. 陽明山 (Yang Ming Shan)
How to get there:
From MRT 2 Jiantan station (劍潭), leave Exit 1 (Shilin Night Market), and walk to the left-side bus station, busses heading north. Take either city bus R5 or small bus (PREFERRED) S15 or S17 to Yangmingshan station (陽明山). Fare is NT$15, payable by cash or Easycard. This station serves as a base to explore the mountain, and the area has a few shops like 7/11 and a Starbucks. Bus 260 also leaves from Taipei Main Station, although Jiantan is recommended. Bus S15 from Jiantan is best, as it travels past the main transfer station to other destinations such as Xiaoyoukeng (小油坑), Lengshuikeng (冷水坑), and Qingtiangang Grassland Trails (擎天崗).

11. 士林夜市 Shilin Night Market
How to get there:
Take the Red Line 2 to Jiantan Station (劍潭), not Shilin Station. After leaving Exit 1, diagonally cross the street to the left to enter the night market.
The most famous night market in Taipei. It's pretty similar to our pasar malam in the older days.
Activities to do: EAT! Oyster Omelet, XXXXXL Chicken Cutlet, Oyster Meesua..
12. 淡水 (Tamsui)
How to get there:
After arriving at Tamsui Station (淡水), Red Line 2, take bus 紅26 (Red 26), 836, or 857 towards Fisherman's Wharf (漁人碼頭).

Lover bridge at Tamsui
*Used to be called the bridge for lovers, but now some called it the bridge for breakups. mmm...
13. 西門町 (Ximending)
How to get there:
Take Blue Line 5 or Green Line 3 to Ximen (西門)

14. 中正紀念堂 (Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall)
How to get there:
Take Red Line 2 or Green Line 3 to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (中正紀念堂), sometimes labeled as C.K.S. Memorial Hall.
15.國立故宮博物院 (National Palace Museum)
How to get there:
From MRT Red Line 2 Shilin station (士林), walk outside the station and board Bus R30 (紅30), fare NT$15, payable by cash or Easycard. Do not cross the road, as busses on the MRT station side of the road head east towards the museum. Busses generally leave every 30 mins on weekdays until 7PM and 15 mins on weekends until 6:55PM. To visit Shilin Night Market after the museum, take R30 back to the city, but stay on after MRT Shilin until the night market (MRT Jiantan). Additional busses are available after hours on Friday and Saturday evenings. Bus BR20 (棕20) also travels from the museum to Brown Line 1 Dazhi station, however, Shilin is recommended for speed and convenience.
