In Jeju, the most convenient way of transport is renting a car. If you don't drive, there's bus to travel around. But it takes way more time, communication and research.
For Car rental, I highly recommend to book from a reputable company to prevent any scams/ accident fee incurred especially when the country's language isn't English.
This is the second time i chose Lotte Car Rental. It's definitely very reliable, nobody doesn't know Lotte in Korea. The fees are transparent, and insurance can be selected.
To make a car booking, you can visit their website Lotte Rent A Car. In Jeju, the highest insurance coverage is Zero Collision Damage waiver (200, 000won). Whereas in Mainland, there is an option for full collision waiver (300,000 won). The difference? I dont know. -.- gave up emailing them because their answer doesn't answers my question. DO NOT SAVE! insurance is VVV important. you don't wish your trip to end with a big hole in the pocket.
From Airport to Car Rental
Look out for signage that says Rental Car Shuttle Bus 렌터카 서틀버스 (Yellow wordings)
In Jeju, the place for car collection is not in the airport. Follow the directions to Shuttle bus service and board the bus for Lotte. (Every 10 mins). Most of the crowd goes to this bus, if you're unsure where is the boarding berth, FOLLOW the crowd. The bus will lead you the the car rental location for processing of documents. For foreigners, there will be staff allocated on a separate line that speaks your language.
What you'll need: Passport, International Driving Permit(s) if there is more than 1 driver using the same car, Credit Card
Once you're done, you'll be given a number to head out to collect your car.
English GPS will be available BUT it's terrible. Have your Kakao and Naver Map ready! Google does not work in Jeju.
Once photo is taken, you'll all good to go!!
Return of car
Have fun on the road!
