Bangkok Trip Repost 3 (updated) - Itienerary (Hotel, Foods, Shopping)

What's the best thing in BKK???? SHOPPING!!!! ENDLESS SHOPPING! THE WORD SHOP TILL YOU DROP REALLY APPLIES TO BKK!!

We spend 3/4 of the time shopping!!! Even the guys!! comeon, Don't say you're bored. split up with your GFs and plan a meeting point. Guys do your shopping!! Else you will regret!

Bobae Market - Another popular wholesale market for clothing in Bangkok, and some say the best, is the outdoor Bobae Market. Bobae has more than 700 stalls and shops, selling t shirts, shirts, skirts, dress shirts, bags, jeans, children's clothing and more. Again, as it's wholesale, the more you buy the cheaper each piece is and, don't forget to bargain as you can get an even cheaper price.

Next to Bobae Market is Bobae Tower, an even larger shopping mall for wholesale clothing with 1,300 shops. Shop the outdoor market first, then head inside for a cooler shopping environment but still with the same low prices.

To get to Bobae Market and Bobae Tower, take the sky train to National Stadium and then a taxi to Bobae Market.

A very different experience to shop in the mids of the night. It opens at 3am! omg!!! we cant wake up!! so we gave up going. Those very chiong people, you can try going there (:

Opening Hour: 3am onwards.

Major Ratchoyothin Market

This market offers basically the same as Khlong San, but in the northern part of the city. Items on sale are a bit trendier as well, and with the market located next to the Major Ratchoyothin Cinema and IMAX complex, you can catch a flick before or after shopping around. A few bargain shops and eateries are also in the shopping complex.

Opening Hours: 16:00 - 23:00 (every day) How to get there: The easiest way is to take the MRT subway to Phahonyothin station, catch a tuk-tuk and tell him to take you to 'talat' (market) Major Ratchoyothin. Bus number 543 runs by Major Ratchoyothin, or, just take a taxi from BTS Mo Chit station to the market.

Siam Square

Rod Dee Det

Rod Dee Det is a favorite among Thais wanting a quick eat, meaning it could be difficult to find a seat during regular eating hours. The chicken stew is well worth the wait; you'll probably want more than just one serving.

Its prime location in Siam Square makes it a great place to eat either before a movie or during a day of shopping.

Best Dishes: Chinese-style beef stew with rice, 30 baht. Chicken stew and rice, 30 baht.

Siam Square Soi 7. Open daily, lunch and dinner. Menu: English, Thai

MBK

Ran Arhan Jaan Diaw

In the shadows of MBK, Ran Gan Ahan Jaan Diaw is a favorite among Chulalongkorn University students. Open late to accommodate the students, this is a great option after a night out on the town. Serving an extensive menu of classic Thai food, it’s guaranteed to leave you satisfied.

Best Dishes: For starters, you can order pad prik Thai tam talay (vegetables, peppers and seafood). Large dishes are 70 baht. Small dishes served with rice are 30-45 baht.

Chula Saca 2. Tel: +65 (0)85 165 2183. Open daily, evenings till late. Menu: Thai

Khao Kha Mu Trok Sung

You need to deviate for a few meters from Charoen Krung into Charoen Wiang in order to find this nondescript home of what the locals consider one the best stewed pork legs and knuckles on rice (khao kha mu) in the area for the last four decades.

They also have storefronts at MBK and Central World food courts; just look for the “Kamou Tokzung” sign.

Kamou Tokzung, 106/5 Charoen Wiang Road. +66 (0)2 235 4930. Open Monday-Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

Realised it's located at Lvl 6 of MBK!

Shoes & Handbags:

Siam Square or Siam Center

For the best bargain deals, head to local markets such as Khlong San or Major Ratchoyothin, the popular Chatuchak Weekend Market, wholesale markets around Pratunam like Baiyoke Mall and Indra Mall, or affordable shopping malls like MBK Centre and Platinum Fashion Mall. If you're into fine-crafted and imported brands, luxurious shopping malls such as Siam Paragon, The Emporium and Gaysorn would be your best bet. However, most up-and-coming local designers usually set up shop around Siam Square, directly across from Siam Center.

If you're willing to spend a bit more of clothes and accessories, try Siam Square or Siam Center. There you will find lotsa thai designer items. Super talented! And not expensive too! Definitely my FAVOURITE shopping place in Bangkok. As mentioned, it is pretty pricey. Especially in Siam Center.

Central World,  Siam Paragon.

Get a Classic Manicure done at ard 10SGD. CHEAP ENOUGH???

MBK

For iPhone/iPad casings, go to Mah Boon Krong (MBK)Like $5-10 for a iPhone cover. Don't bother walking the rest of the mall....super overpriced place.

Items categories by levels.

Union Mall

Another mall for clothes and shoes would be Union Mall. Not a wholesale mall so prices are pretty fixed. But you can still bargain of course.Union Mall is a shopping mall located in the north of Bangkok, at the Lat Phrao junction. The mall opened on February 2006. It has 8 floors with a total of 150 000 square meters of space. Furthermore, it houses some 1240 booths and shops and entertainment services. It has an easy access from Phahon Yothin MRT Station, an international food court, a myriad of fast food chains, entertainment areas, tutorial schools, a fitness centre, and a supermarket.

There is so much More variety here!!! I spent 2 days just to clear this mall!! Clothes! CHEAP!!!!

for designer's clothes and unique pieces are at the higher levels but a little pricey!!

Waxing & Brows can be done in this mall!! Alot cheaper than Singapore!!!

And the best part of this mall is KOREAN BBQ BUFFET! FAINT!!!

EAT ALL YOU WANT AT 10SGD. and their pork is super tender and soft!! Me and my BF ate twice too!! Oops :X

The store we went is from the escalator outside of the mall up to level 2. the first korean BBQ u stop by. There's another Korean BBQ in the mall!

MK for steamboat!!

their noodle with roast duck is really nice!!! but get the buffet because it's cheap! it includes the green noodles too!!

Central Plaza - Lad Prao

And when you're done at Union Mall, you might wanna walk over to Central Plaza - Lad Prao. There, you'll find a cinema, supermarket, and a lot of international brands like Zara, Uniqlo, Aldo...etc.

Pratunam and platinum mall.

Pratunam Market
Located at the intersection of Ratchaprop and Petchburi roads (next to Amari Watergate Hotel), Pratunam Wholesale Market is filled with shops and tiny stalls flowing over to the sidewalks and extending all the way to Baiyoke Towers I and Baiyoke Towers II on Ratchaprarop Soi 3. More than a shopping experience, the market offers an immersion in the local way of life – vendors working their sewing machines, packing and unpacking orders, carting trolleys up and down the narrow aisles, and shouting gossip at each other for lack of a better thing to do. It offers a stark glimpse into what shopping used to be like before air-conditioned malls. The market itself is open 24 hours, but the dynamic is different throughout the day. Retail shops open at about 10:00 until 21:00, but again this may vary. For visitors and shoppers, the best time to go is between 11:00 and 20:00.

Open: 24 hours (retail shops open from 10:00 - 21:00) Location: Intersection of Ratchaprop and Petchburi roads to Ratchaprarop Soi 3

To get to Pratunam, take the sky train to Chidlom, walk to the intersection (with Gaysorn Plaza on your right hand side) turn right and walk down a few blocks until you get to the next large intersection. Pratunam Market is diagonally across the street, but you'll need to walk down one of several tiny little alleyways to get to it.

Those getting shorts dont buy from the streets outside pratunum because you can get the same shorts at better quality inside the mall! Me and my friend regretted when we start walking into pratunam mall!

Basically pratunam malls sells more of bottoms wholesale

Platinum shopping mall

Directly across the street from Pratunam is Platinum Mall. This six-story shopping mall is chock-a-block full of markets stalls selling clothing, jewelry, shoes and bags at wholesale prices. Unlike Pratunam which is outside and can be hot, Platinum is air-conditioned, so it's a more pleasant experience.

Platinum is famous for teenage clothing, adult clothing, children's clothing, bags, jewelry and accessories for both men and women. Shirts start at 70 baht ($2.10) but will go even cheaper if you buy 20 of them. Platinum also has some wonderful cafes and restaurants, so it's easy to spend a few hours here as you can grab a quick lunch or snack if you need a break from shopping.

Guys, this is the mall to split with your GFs. A full floor of mens clothes for you.

There's a Platinum Mall 2, which is beside Platinum Mall. At Platinum Mall 2, you will find lotsa bags and shoes.
